Every creative process often begins with an initial idea, quickly followed by the practical task of translating that concept into measurable terms. This is precisely where BlendZ was conceived, addressing the technical challenges associated with large-scale, overlapping projection setups.

Developed to streamline the calculation process for multi-projector configurations, BlendZ simplifies determining the necessary parameters for creating seamless widescreen images from multiple overlapping projectors. Its primary function is to assist users in efficiently calculating the dimensions and overlaps required for projecting larger images than what a single projector can accommodate.

To utilize BlendZ, users need only input the desired width and height of the projection surface, the native chip resolution or source device output resolution, and an estimate of the number of projectors needed. The application then provides comprehensive information to facilitate planning. It supports measurements in both Feet and Metres, allowing users to select their preferred unit system.

Originally developed for Mac and PC platforms as a tool for Project Managers at Creative Technology (www.ctinternational.com), BlendZ has now been adapted into a mobile version for iOS devices. Like its desktop counterpart, the mobile app includes features such as grid overlays with 8 or 16 step grey-scale levels—horizontal or vertical—to aid in alignment—plus the capability to generate and export detailed information sheets in PDF format.

At present, BlendZ's calculations are limited to single rows or columns of projectors. Future enhancements are planned to support more complex projection arrays, broadening its applicability for diverse multi-projector installations.
